Then you can experience all the happiness that the Satpura national park is offering you and this sanctuary is cuddled amongst the Mahadeo hills of Satpura range. Satpura was first explored by Captain James Forsyth of Bengal Lancers in 1862. He was in mission to search our Great Indian Freedom Fighter Tantya Tope. Satpura is one of the first declared Reserved Forest Area of India due to its ecological importance. Satpura became a Tiger Reserve in the year 2000 and was name Satpura Tiger Reserve from Satpura National Park. Satpura National Park, with inclusion of Pachmarhi & Bori Sanctuaries, Satpura Tiger Reserve it covers 1427 kms of Hoshangabad and Chhindwara Districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Satpura Tiger Reserve has 4 Core gates Churna gate, Madhai gate, Mallupura gate and Panaarpani gate. Satpura Tiger Reserve also has 4 Buffer gates Burgodi (Pipariya), Jamani Dev, Parsapani, and Tamia Delakhari. Nearest railway station to visit Madhai Zone is Pipariya and Sohagpur. People coming by air can take flight to Bhopal. Nearest airport is Bhopal. Major railway junction is Itarsi Railway station.
Majority of trains coming from Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur all have a stop in Itarsi Junction.From Itarsi it takes only 90 min to reach Madhai.
For Churna Zone, Betul and Itarsi are the nearest railway station.
